VOLLEYBALL: Keswick to host Seacrest Country Day in Elite 8 on Tue., Nov. 5

For the fifth time in the volleyball program’s history and first in 18 years, Keswick has advanced to the Regional Finals. The Crusaders advanced with a straight-set win over a tough Evangelical Christian squad on Tuesday night – 25-10, 25-21, 25-20 – in front of a standing room only crowd at Keswick Gym.

Keswick super sophomore Sydney Jackwin paced the Crusaders with a match-high 25 kills, pushing her season total to 424. While Jackwin continued to deliver, it was the Crusaders total team effort that made the difference in the semifinals as seniors Jakara Akins, Emily Babnick, Brooke Brown and Rylee Hannon each factored into the victory. The freshman trio of Lauren Cook, Nyla Fulvi and Sydney Melcher delivered on the front line all night.

After the match, Jackwin spoke with the Tampa Bay Times saying, “We’re all close and have a strong bond, especially with Coach King. We want to keep pushing to go all the way and do this for her.”

Before the season, Coach King shared that this would be her final season as volleyball head coach. For now, Keswick and Coach King will have at last one more home match as the Crusaders host the Regional Final on Tuesday, November 5 at 6:00 pm, against the No.5 seed Seacrest Country Day, who surprised top-seeded First Baptist Academy in its semifinal showdown.
