The KCS Fine Arts Program

If you love to create and express yourself, then Keswick Christian School is an exciting place to be!

At Keswick, we have a dedicated faculty of Fine Arts teachers who love children and love the Lord. We seek to teach our students that, since God has given us the gift of creative abilities, we give those gifts back for God’s glory, as a ministry to others, and as a way for all of us to enjoy God’s creation.

One of Keswick’s mottos is “distinctively Christian” so our fine arts programs are, indeed, unique:

·     Our award-winning high school Wind Ensemble and Concert Choir perform at concerts, church services, community events, school functions, and adjudicated music festivals. The concert choir has been selected in recent years to perform at the Disney World Candlelight Processional and has even sung the "Star-Spangled Banner" at Tampa Bay Rays games!

·     Every two years, the high school music program packs up and travels on a Concert and Ministry Tour to places like Japan, Hawaii, New York, Boston, Jamaica, and Key West. Where will we go next?

·     The Fine Arts Department also sponsors a full-blown Broadway-style Spring Musical every two years to a packed house. Recent musicals have been “The King and I”,  “The Music Man”, and “Annie Get Your Gun”.

·     Our pre-school and lower school music classes and choirs perform several times a year. The Christmas musical is a great tradition that never fails to bring smiles. Keswick students, even our youngest, are taught to worship God through music and art.

·     At Keswick Christian School, weekly piano lessons are offered during the school day on campus for students in 2nd grade and up. This is a unique program that allows students to study piano with expert faculty in a way that is convenient for parents and is reasonably priced.

·     Other music programs at Keswick include the Praise Band, which leads the high school in high energy worship at weekly chapel services; the Crusader Varsity Band, which performs at football and basketball games; the Keswick Ringers Handbell Choir, which performs at churches and choir concerts; and the Keswick Percussion Ensemble, our most recent addition, which has quickly become a favorite at many concerts on and off campus.

·     Keswick’s visual arts programs do an amazing job of bringing out the creativity in our students. One of the highlights of the year is the Spring Art Show that puts the best art work of the year out on display.

We have wonderful arts facilities at Keswick. Our lower school art and music programs enjoy their own well-equipped buildings. The upper school music building, where bands and choirs rehearse daily, is spacious and always buzzing with activity. In 2006, our secondary art program moved into a large dedicated art room, complete with a kiln.

We are grateful for the Lord’s blessing of the arts programs at Keswick Christian School.
